How to Use RDO Classic
Prepare the Specimen
Fix tissue in 10% neutral buffered formalin for a minimum of 24 hours before decalcification. Trim specimen to 3–5mm thickness for optimal penetration.
Immerse in RDO
Place fixed tissue in RDO at a ratio of 20:1 (solution to tissue volume). Ensure complete submersion and adequate container size.
Monitor Progress
Check specimens periodically. Most small biopsies complete in 1–4 hours. Larger specimens may require 6–24 hours. Bend test or x-ray to confirm completion.
Rinse Thoroughly
Remove tissue and rinse in running tap water for 30 minutes to 1 hour to remove residual acid before processing.
Process as Usual
Proceed with routine histological processing. RDO-treated tissues are fully compatible with standard embedding, sectioning, and staining protocols.
